Digital Production News

This time in Post & VFX

IBC Amsterdam is behind us! And yes, we survived the Deutsche Bahn odyssey (barely), and the joy of hauling gear across the RAI halls. It was worth it: we reconnected with old friends, bumped into new players, and discovered ideas that will bubble up in our interviews soon. Keep your eyes peeled!

This year felt different: fuller halls, more visitors, but a calmer pace. With ARRI and other big names skipping booths, the show leaned heavily toward networking. Still, there were standouts: Blackmagic made noise (as usual), and Dolby finally made Vision 2 make sense. Even Kyno resurfaced with a fresh update — proof that our favorite media management tool is still alive and kicking.

Between beta-testing marathons and booth-hopping, we left Amsterdam with the feeling that IBC is morphing into a knowledge-exchange rather than a product circus. And that’s not a bad thing.

Now our eyes are on the Festival of Animation Berlin, where pixels take center stage and on the upcoming holiday season. If you’re still wondering what to give your fellow artists and tech-nerds for Christmas: yes, you can always gift a subscription to Digital Production. Just saying.

I whispered, “Goodbye, Adobe!” as I pressed the unsubscribe button. To me it sounded very much like “Hasta la vista” but less dramatic. We had a good run, but it was time to move on.
