The SCONE plug-in for musculoskeletal simulations brings real-time interaction to a field often limited to medical research. Now, Artists in VFX, CGI and machine learning researchers can use musculoskeletal simulations for predictive biological motion. This is especially useful for gait simulations and scenarios with atypical muscle setups—without the need to cripple a mocap actor, for example.

Developed by Hyfydy, the tool is not aimed at media and entertainment but has caught the eye of the digital production world due to its unique applications. It’s available as a plug-in for SCONE, an open-source platform widely used for biological motion prediction, and is also accessible via Python API. SCONE integrates smoothly with various pipelines, providing reliable data for ML-driven projects.

The simulations provide medically accurate results and are adaptable to different body configurations.
