<p class="wp-block-paragraph">According to the <a href="https://docs.world-creator.com/release-notes/version-2026.x/world-creator-2026.1" title="">official release notes</a>, World Creator 2026.1 is a maintenance-focused update aimed at fixing long-standing usability issues rather than expanding the feature set. The developer describes the release as a refinement pass, addressing input handling, viewport behaviour, export reliability and overall application stability. No new terrain generation systems, simulation models or rendering features are introduced. This release is about making existing tools behave more predictably, especially during extended interactive sessions.</p>

<h3 id="tablet-and-pen-support-improved" class="wp-block-heading">Tablet and pen support improved</h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A core update in 2026.1 is improved support for graphics tablets and pen displays. Stylus input now reportedly provides smoother, more predictable feedback during sculpting and editing operations. The release notes do not list specific hardware or benchmark figures. Improvements are based solely on the vendor’s claims and are Not independently verified at press time.</p>



<h3 id="viewport-and-navigation-behaviour" class="wp-block-heading">Viewport and navigation behaviour</h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This maintenance update also adjusts viewport focus and camera navigation. Terrain now centres more reliably in the viewport, reducing navigation offsets on large landscapes. These changes target everyday interaction more than output quality.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A dedicated Smooth filter has been introduced to remove high-frequency noise from heightfields and meshes. The notes describe it as complementary to existing erosion and sediment filters. Technical details such as algorithm type or whether it uses GPU acceleration are not disclosed and remain Not independently verified at press time.</p>

<h3 id="orbx-export-enables-octanerender-workflows" class="wp-block-heading">ORBX export enables OctaneRender workflows</h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Version 2025.3 introduces support for exporting terrain in ORBX format — the scene format used by OctaneRender. This makes it possible to take terrains created in World Creator directly into any DCC (digital-content creation) application that has an OctaneRender plugin, such as Blender, Maya, Cinema 4D, 3ds Max or Nuke. This provides a more streamlined route for pushing terrain through professional rendering pipelines.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The update adds an official bridge plugin for Godot (open-source game engine), allowing direct export of terrain to Godot. With this, Godot joins the list of engines and DCCs supported by World Creator, alongside Blender, Cinema 4D, Houdini, Unity and Unreal Engine.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A new “paint holes” feature enables artists to carve holes directly into terrain for caves, tunnels or dungeons. The position of those holes can be exported as a mask for use in game engines or DCC apps, giving more control over subterranean or cut-away geometry. In addition, World Creator 2025.3 allows exporting relief maps for terrain. Relief maps emphasise elevation variation and can be used for topographic visualisations or stylised designs.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For studios and artists working in game development, VFX, environment art or realtime rendering, the ORBX export plus Godot integration expands pipeline flexibility. You can now build terrain in World Creator and send it directly into OctaneRender or Godot, without manual format conversions. Cave and tunnel masking adds value for level design. <p class="wp-block-paragraph">Biomes can be defined through combinations of filters, objects and materials, with their own masks and procedural rules. World Creator orders and blends them in real time, and their distribution can be exported as 2D maps for use in external workflows.</p>



<h3 id="asset-scattering-with-custom-imports" class="wp-block-heading">Asset scattering with custom imports</h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The update also introduces the option to <strong>import custom 3D assets</strong> in formats including FBX, GLB and OBJ. Imported meshes, such as vegetation or rocks, can be placed manually or scattered procedurally across terrain.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Procedural scattering supports parameters like terrain height and slope, noise variation, and collision exclusion. Scattered assets can receive their own shading styles, with gradients for subtle colour variations. Secondary scattering is also possible, enabling moss on rocks or vines on trees. Placement data can be exported to DCC tools or game engines as instance maps. World Creator now also supports direct import of <strong>Megascans assets</strong> from <a href="https://digitalproduction.com/tag/fab-marketplace/" title="Fab marketplace">Epic Games’ Fab marketplace</a>. BiteTheBytes ships its own starter asset pack with certain licence tiers.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The <strong>material system</strong> gains support for emissive materials, suitable for lava flows or stylised effects, and now allows displacement textures that generate actual geometry instead of render-only detail. Materials can combine colour, textures, gradients and Adobe Substance materials in one definition.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Rendering in the viewport benefits from a new real-time denoiser and custom resolution options. Post-processing has been expanded with LUTs and additional filters.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">New terrain filters include Terrace for stepped formations and Dunes for desert shapes. <p class="wp-block-paragraph">BiteTheBytes has also restructured licensing. The <strong>Indie licence</strong> ($149) is now capped at $50,000/year revenue and excludes object scattering, though maximum export resolution has doubled to 8K. The <strong>Professional licence</strong> ($249) is restricted to individual artists without a revenue cap. A new <strong>Studio licence</strong> costs $499 for studios under $1M/year revenue, while the <strong>Enterprise licence</strong> covers higher tiers at $1,669.</p>
