Media 100 Inc. announces a live streaming webcast solution that allows users to distribute live, digital video (DV) quality content in a variety of formats and data rates over the Internet from the Windows 2000 platform. Cleaner Live is also the first and only live streaming solution to work seamlessly with Media 100’s award-winning Cleaner 5 and CineStream industry standards. This feature allows users to edit and author interactivity directly into the content. Finally, the interactive video content can be encoded into Real Video and Microsoft Windoes Media format to create on-demand content for secondary use on the web.
Cleaner Live offers customers high quality live streaming capabilities on the Windows 2000 platform in an affordable solution. Utilising key streaming technologies from Media 100, Cleaner Live offers a number of key features to further simplify the process, including the following capabilities:
- Input directly from DV cameras using an IEEE 1394 (Firewire) interface, a PCI card and cables are included with Cleaner Live
- Parallel encoding of streams in different data rates in Windows Media and RealVideo format at the same time
- Decoding of DV content in real time is possible by using the Media 100 DV Accelerator PCI card, which is also included with Cleaner Live
- High-resolution DV live streams can be saved to hard disc for later editing with Media 100 CineStream
- Saved content can be edited and optimised for interactive streaming with Cleaner 5
- Preview of Windows Media and RealVideo streams before and during transmission of the live webcast possible
- Monitoring of all transmission parameters such as frames and bit rate
- Direct status reporting of key functions using traffic lights with “red/yellow/green” indicators
- Online help function during the webcast through context-sensitive guidelines
- Saving of settings (default settings) for later reuse

To optimise live streaming performance, Media 100 recommends the following minimum system requirements:
Microsoft Windows 2000, Pentium III 733 MHz CPU (dual processor configuration recommended to enable parallel output in Windows Media and real system), 128 MB RAM, two available PCI slots, 16 MB graphics card with DirectDraw support, 32-bit monitor with 1024 x 768 dpi resolution, CD-ROM drive and sound card, NTSC or PAL DV camera with IEEE 1394 Firewire connection, Internet access with appropriate streaming bandwidth.
