In nuce: LWKS Software, the brains behind the editing software “Lightworks”, have acquired ioGates ApS – the developer of the cloud-based file-sharing software “React”, which is tailored to the needs of film productions. According to industry reports, LWKS’ objective is to merge ioGates ApS, Lightworks and the quality assurance tool QScan. The software package that will be put together through the acquisition could create an all-round carefree package for users – especially when it comes to reviewing and approving footage in film production. The exact terms of the acquisition have not yet been announced.
What will change for users? Although Lightworks, QScan and React were already linked for Adobe and Avid users, the acquisition will bring the three software solutions even closer together. The Hollywood Reporter reports that the integration of the tools will be presented to the “British Film Editors” organisation this week. The final integration should be completed by the autumn of this year.
Personnel: Peter Lambert will continue in his current position as Chief Executive Officer at LWKS Software. The CEO of ioGates, Jesper Anderson, will head up the “Cloud Workflow Design” division at LWKS in future.
