In nuce: BD3D has released Scatter 5.3 – the latest version of the parametric scattering tool for Blender. The new flagship feature is called Multi-Surface Scattering (more details below). Scatter 5.3 is compatible with Blender 3.3, is backwards compatible with versions 5.0, 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3 of Scatter. The plug-in receives a new update every three to four months, which often brings new functions.
What’s new in Scatter5.3
In toto: The new functions of the new Scatter version are summarised below.
- New multi-surface scattering function: According to the developers, this is a novelty for a Blender plug-in. The multi-surface function sometimes has the effect that it works both in global world space and with individual surfaces (surface space).
- Transition falloff controls have been incorporated throughout the toolset – consisting of two functions: The Transition Graph for user-defined transitions and Transition Noise for transitions without noise patterns (the latter, according to the developers, results in particularly natural-looking transitions).
- It is now possible to scatter by density or total number of distances (scattering).
- A new point cloud display has been introduced, which should be particularly useful for understanding the final shape of the distribution.
- Further innovations: Furthermore, the virtual camera has been optimised, as well as the pattern-based distribution and the interface. Detailed information on the new functions can be found in the corresponding announcement .
Availability: Scatter 5.3 is available for download at blendermarket.com – the Individual Licence for a one-time fee of 99 US dollars, the Studio Licence for a one-time fee of 299 US dollars.
