How does Voronoi Fracturing work in Cinema 4D?

Chris Schmidt, founder of Rocket Lasso, explains how destruction orgies can be planned in C4D – breakpoint by breakpoint. A 50-minute tutorial video.

In nuce: As a follow-up to this year’s Siggraph, where Maxon was present with its The 3D and Motion Design Show, the associated live recordings have now been released as YouTube videos – among the prominent personnel is: Chris Schmidt.

In toto: In the over 50-minute video called “50 Minutes of Tips & Tricks: All about the Voronoi Fracture”, Chris gives an entertaining lecture on Voronoi Fracturing in Cinema 4D – a non-destructive destruction in C4D. On maxon.net , Voronoi Fracturing is described as a way of breaking down objects into individual procedural parts that can be planned down to the last detail (selectable in the C4D header via “MoGraph”, then select “Voronoi Fracture” in the drop-down menu).

Who is Chris Schmidt? He is a 3D artist, software developer and founder of Rocket Lasso ( a platform for digital content creation tutorials). Schmidt has been working intensively with Cinema 4D since 2000. His tutorials cover the entire spectrum (rigging, particles, motion graphics, etc.) and are aimed at beginners and advanced users alike. In addition, a weekly livestream appears on Rocket Lasso, in which Schmidt answers the community’s questions about C4D – useful plug-ins are also published (for example the particle plug-in Ricochet, which Digital Production reported on 18 June last year ).

Click further: Chris Schmidt will be presented by Elly Wade, who also gave a presentation on Redshift at Siggraph (Digital Production reported on 14 September 2022). We last referred to Chris Schmidt’s work on 25 October 2021, when he talked about the then new functions of Cinema 4D R25.
