Beauty-Grading in Resolve
Using software to approximate images of people to current conventions of beauty is work that has shifted more and more from compositing to the domain of grading. As the possibilities increased, so did the demands. Following on from the last article, which dealt with best practices in colour grading in general, we would like to take a very specific look at tips in the area of beauty and retouching. Here, too, we take the perspective of filmmakers who, for budgetary reasons, are "forced" to grade all or at least part of their films themselves and have already gained some experience in Resolve.
Blender: An upgrade for our particle system – We lay pipes!
In issue 23:04|05 we learnt how to create a particle system with the new Simulation Nodes in Blender 3.6. In Blender 4.0, an interesting new function has been added that allows us to connect a series of points via curves. That would be a nice feature upgrade for our custom build. In addition, Cycles can now do light linking, which allows us to set the scene perfectly.

The Macromedia Academy of Media is offering a free short workshop on two special Photoshop topics. The renowned photographer and author Karsten Rose (Digital Face & Body Styling, Addison-Wesley) will demonstrate the possibilities of digital face and body styling and introduce the automation and workflow of Photoshop. The workshop starts at 6 pm and lasts approx. 2 hours.
Karsten Rose is an internationally renowned photographer and image composer. For years he has been researching and perfecting the use of Adobe Photoshop in the professional post-processing of people images. He is the author of numerous specialised books, such as "Digital Face & Body Styling (Addison-Wesley)" and a sought-after speaker at conferences (Photoshop Convention).

mental ray workshop
The aim of this training workshop in Berlin is to provide participants with the know-how to significantly improve the quality of their renderings with mental ray, to save a lot of time with the right settings and also to show that additional renderers in Autodesk 3ds Max are not even necessary. The clearly structured topic blocks cover the basics through to professional applications such as industrial and architectural visualisation or programming your own shaders. Participants will be able to create images of outstanding quality and unrivalled realism with mental ray. The high quality is ensured by the fact that both the training content and the written (German) tutorials have been coordinated with mental images GmbH. Both individual days and the entire workshop can be booked. Those who complete the entire workshop will receive a certificate from mental images GmbH. During the workshop, each participant works on an HP high-end workstation, which can also be purchased at special conditions.
