Over the past year, Sony further expanded its market leadership in high-end production video switchers thanks to the strong success of the current MVS-8000G series. Numerous additional systems have been ordered or installed in recent months alone. With almost 90 switchers sold in the German-speaking region alone, the MVS series has established itself as the video-switcher standard. The switchers are used both in fixed installations at broadcasters and television service providers and in mobile outside-broadcast applications.
Well-known broadcasters and production companies such as MDR, NDR, N24, Bavariafilm, fernsehwerft, SIVision, nobeo and Swiss Television have chosen the MVS-8000 series. In fixed installations, after its positive experience expanding the Leipzig broadcasting center, MDR has already ordered its second HD-capable MVS-8000 in the updated G version, while NDR in Hamburg has ordered its first. N24 in Berlin also selected Sony: the two new MVS-8000GSF switchers are already on air in its recently occupied capital-city studio. Alongside Munich-based Bavariafilm, a production service provider for public broadcasters, Berlin full-service provider fernsehwerft will also use the MVS-8000G as its HD video switcher in its newly constructed HD production complex.
The high-quality Sony switchers have also become firmly established in mobile reporting. Munich production company SIVision and nobeo, a production service provider based in Hürth near Cologne and part of the Euro Media Group, selected the 8000G series as the centerpiece of their new flagship outside-broadcast trucks. nobeo, which provides services for RTL, ZDF, Brainpool and Endemol among others, is thereby expanding its HD production capacity further. Following positive experience in nobeo Studios 1 and 6, the company has already put its third MVS system into operation. Swiss Television is also renewing its technology with a total of three MVS-8000G systems, ordered for three new outside-broadcast trucks operated by its regional subsidiaries.
The MVS-8000 series features a modular, flexibly expandable design and is suitable for productions in all common broadcast standards. This enables existing production environments to make a smooth, future-proof transition to HD without sacrificing SD capabilities.
