And the pocket camera continues: Blackmagic Design has unveiled the new Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K . The previous 4K model is thus getting an additional version that not only impresses with its higher resolution and Super 35 HDR sensor, but also with a Canon EF mount. The new camera is now available from retailers for €2679.
The Pocket Cinema Camera 6K
Both models are initially equipped in the same way with ISO values of up to 25,600, 13 f-stops, Blackmagic RAW recording on internal SD / UHS-II and CFast cards, USB-C connection, 3D LUTs and the 5-inch display. Recording takes place in 10-bit files in Apple ProRes in all formats or in 12-bit Blackmagic RAW files. The new model also offers a slightly larger and heavier body (900 grams vs 722 grams):
- 6K resolution with 6144 x 3456 pixels at up to 60 fps (20 fps for 2.8K and HD)
- Super35 sensor with the dimensions 23.10 mm x 12.99 mm
- Canon EF mount for a selection of compatible lenses
Compared to the 4K version, the battery life at 24fps and full resolution in RAW is approx. 45 minutes, about 15 minutes less. The now available BatteryGrip should be useful for this. Blackmagic Design offerssome sample shots, including a download of the original Pocket Cinema 6K files, here.
