Last year’s horror film Doctor Sleep was two things: a film adaptation of Stephen King’s sequel novel of the same name and a sequel to Stanley Kubrick’s classic film, which was released forty years ago. Instead of Jack Nicholson, Ewan McGregor was now under the spell of supernatural forces. But things like streams of blood bursting out from between lift doors, the inhospitable Overlook Hotel or its iconic carpet pattern remained.
