V-Ray 5 for Houdini
Chaos Group is now releasing the public beta of V-Ray 5 for Houdini. With the release, some core features of V-Ray 5 become available. Among others: Support for Light Path Expressions, improved ACEScg workflow or compositing directly in image memory.
Core features
V-Ray 5 for Houdini contains many of the same core features as V-Ray 5 for 3ds Max and V-Ray 5 for Maya. Among them: A revised V-Ray Frame Buffer. This allows layer-based compositing and new lighting to be carried out directly in the frame buffer. Also included: Support for Light Path Expressions. You can create customised render passes with the LPEs. Not to be forgotten: A simplified ACEScgh Colour Space workflow. This is because V-Ray automatically masks textures and light temperatures. You no longer need to create separate notes for this. Another treat: As a Houdini user, Chaos Group grants you access to the V-Ray 5 Material Library. This contains over 500 real-world materials, such as glass, wood and metal.
