Houdini 18.5
New features await Houdini users: New simulation tools for fabrics & liquids – and also updates for: Solaris Layout, Look Dev toolset, Karma renderer and game development plugins.
KineFX
KineFX is one of the feature highlights. It is a new feature for: Procedural character rigging and motion editing. The move to KineFX is in line with SideFX’s goal of further expanding Houdini’s procedural workflow.
Vellum Brush
The Vellum Solver has also been updated. With version 18.5, Houdinians will find the Vellum Brush toolkit in their virtual toolbox. What does it do? The Vellum Brush Toolkit provides you with interactive physics brushes for curves, meshes and soft bodies. What else can you do with the Vellum Brush? For example, you can work with simulations directly in the viewport. You can also use it as a Sculpt Cloth to create realistic folds on fabrics.
Quickstart videos
With the Houdini 18.5 release, SideFX also presents a series of videos called Quickstart. The four short videos deal with: PolyBevel, Physical Lens and Focus Plane, Solaris Render Gallery and KineFX Motion Retargeting. You can find all four videos below.
