In nuce: The SideFX Labs team releases the Cable Generator 2.0, part of SideFX Labs – Houdini’s free and open source toolset.
What can the Cable Generator do? As the name suggests, you can use this generator to generate – you guessed it right! – cables, whether above ground, underground or at ground level.
How does the Cable Generator work? The tool works on the basis of input curves or input geometries. As the SideFX team explains, you not only lay cables with the tool, but also allow simulated gravity to take effect. You can also let your tangled cables interact with colliders, knot them to the point of inextricability or automatically create UVs.
What does the SideFX Labs toolset contain? It’s an extensive toolset with over 230 tools to help you shorten the path of your VFX and animation projects.
