In nuce: Ftrack releases cineSync version 5.0. cineSync is a tool for remote reviewing of film projects. Perhaps the most exciting new features include a new layer system, new comparison modes and support for OpenColorIO 2 and OpenTimelineIO.
What new features can you expect with cinesync 5.0? We have summarised some of the most interesting new features below:
- CineSync Play: This new player also works locally on your computer – without a product licence
- Support for OpenColorIO 2 and OpenTimelineIO
- Support for OpenEXR
- CineSync is now even more closely integrated with ftrack Studio and ShotGrid
- The playback function is now even more performant – even when working with large files
- In addition, you can expect many new functions, including: a new tool for text annotation, support for separate audio tracks, view of different image layers, and many more features
Backlight buys Ftrack: The release of 5.0 marks the first new version of cineSync since ftrack was acquired by Backlight. The acquisition was only finalised the week before last, the announcement can be read on ftrack.com. Despite the acquisition, ftrack will continue to operate as an independent business unit under founder Fredrik Limsater.
Further information on cineSync 5: CineSync 5.0 is available for Windows, Linxus and macOS operating systems. For existing cineSync Pro customers, cineSync 5.0 is available free of charge. It is not yet clear how much cineSync 5.0 will cost once Ftrack discontinues support for the 4 version series. However, cineSync Play will continue to be available free of charge for existing customers of cineSync Pro and ftrack Studio.
