In nuce: As part of our weekly recurring series “Animago Afternoon”, we present pearls, treasures and other gems from last year’s Animago film festivals at the best time of the afternoon. This time we’re showing you the award-nominated promotional short film “Adidas Climachill – A Cooling Revolution”, realised by the Dutch filmmakers from “Glassworks”, salvaged from the Animago archives in 2014.
What is behind “Adidas Climachill – A Cooling Revolution”? The film launches the Climachill campaign from square-toed shoe manufacturer Adidas. Ice and frost metaphorically shake hands in the ad film, which is well worth seeing. A rollercoaster-like tracking shot demonstrates how the advertised football shirt works – flat yarns, including the SubZero yarn with titanium, together with “cooling spheres” made of aluminium, form a garment with a cooling effect. You’ll have to find out for yourself at your local football club’s next friendly match whether these are just nice-sounding marketing phrases, or whether there’s more to the technical terms than just a lot of jargon.
