U-Render 2022.4 released!

What can the new U-Render do that the old U-Render couldn’t? Well, NPR, SSGI and VFFM of course? So let’s get to non-photorealistic rendering, screen space global illumination – and lots more feature joys!

In nuce: Version 2022.4 of U-Render was recently released. The developers advertise the most exciting new features: Non-Photorealistic Rendering (NPR), Screen Space Global Illumination (SSGI), Multi-Materials, Sharpening Filter, an easy-to-use installer and a free asset library.

  • Non-Photorealistic Rendering (NPR): This is made up of various line generators and colour gradient-based shading. Various channels such as emissive and specularity are available for the desired look and, if desired, the global line settings can be overwritten by material.
. You can find out more about NPR at u-render.com/features/npr. According to the developer, NPR is designed to provide artists with a wide range of expressive styles. U-Render 2022.4 is the first version of NPR.
  • Screen Space Global Illumination (SSGI): is intended to provide more realistic lighting situations by also taking indirect lighting within the visible image area into account. According to the developers, images created with SSGI should appear much more vivid – thanks to the use of diffuse lighting. It is also stated that the most common area of application for SSGI is interiors.
  • Multi-Materials: Should be very easy to use. Users can look forward to time savings when working with cloned objects – especially when it comes to handling several materials at the same time.
  • Free asset library: Click on u-render.com/downloads
  • Sharpening Filter: This is primarily intended to help with printed renderings where details need to be displayed. This is achieved through additional depth of field.
