In nuce: The release of the Pocket Cinema 6K G2 from Blackmagic Design caused confusion for our colleague Rudi Schmidt, online editor-in-chief at slashCAM.de – because: According to Rudi, the DSLR is not “the successor to the 6K Pro model, but the second generation (G2) of the first, original 6K Pocket model”. Confusion cleared up?
New functions: According to Rudi Schmidt’s expert view, the Pocket Cinema 6K G2 can make the purchase decision easier for prospective buyers thanks to the following features:
- S35-6K sensor with G5 colour science
- Second mini XLR connection
- Larger battery (NP-F570)
- Fold-out display
- Support for an optional electronic viewfinder
Firmware update: If Rudi Schmidt’s expertise is to be believed, users can also look forward to version 7.9 of the firmware, which will be of particular interest to photographers who use the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, 6K and 6K Pro models. The camera’s gyro data, which is now saved in the metadata of the recorded clips, is a reason to be happy.
