RRR | VFX-Breakdown

Four fists for a triple-R: Digital Domain dominates in Bollywood blockbuster – and the Bollywood blockbuster dominates British colonial powers.

In nuce: Digital Domain has released a VFX breakdown of the Bollywood blockbuster RRR. The action film found its way into German cinemas in March this year as a Hindi language version with subtitles, is one of the most expensive Indian film productions to date – and has been received overwhelmingly positively by film critics. The abbreviation RRR in the film’s title stands for Rise Roar Revolt. With a running time of over three hours, RRR is more than enough to fill an entire evening. The film was directed by S. S. Rajamouli (Koduri Srisaila Sri Rajamouli), whose action-fantasy films have made him one of India’s most financially successful filmmakers. RRR marks S. S. Rajamouli’s twelfth feature film production and tells the fictional story of two revolutionaries who leave their homeland before the pair become patriotic freedom fighters in the 1920s.
