In nuce: According to a recent press release, Autodesk has announced Flow. This is cloud computing software aimed at the media and entertainment industry and developers in the visual effects and gaming sectors.
In toto: Autodesk Flow is designed to accompany the entire production cycle – from the initial conceptualisation to the delivery of the final product. The first product to be released under the Flow title will, according to Autodesk, focus on asset management. In addition to Flow, Forma and Fusion have also been announced. Flow, Forma and Fusion are described as industry clouds. Forma is intended to appeal to users from the AEC industry (Architecture, Engineering & Construction), whereas Fusion is aimed at creative professionals from the design and manufacturing industries.
Flow was announced at Autodesk University 2022, Autodesk’s annual user event. After taking place exclusively as an online event for the previous two years, Autodesk University returned this year as an in-person event in New Orleans. The event brings together professionals from the AEC (see above), Product Design and Manufacturing (D&M) and Media & Entertainment (M&E) industries. Further details, information on the release date or pricing for Flow and the other cloud solutions are not yet known.
