Here comes Modo 16.1!

Give your 3D model a new coat of paint – without having to paint! Modo 16.1 offers more decal options than you’ll ever need!

The update includes numerous new functions that make your 3D modelling easier and more effective.

Planar decals: add complex details with ease

With the planar decal function in Modo 16.1, images can be placed on 3D models without having to edit the UVs. This makes it easy to add complex details. With the Planar Decal Mesh Op function, presets of planar decals can be applied to the model.

Seam Decals: Build seamless details

With Seam Decals, curves can be drawn on a surface to create seamless details that simulate complex models. This function is particularly suitable for hard surface models that contain many panels and nunnies. The Seam Decal MeshOp function was inspired by video games.

Surface Probes: Simple rendering of decals

With Surface Probes, you can project decals onto a surface and have them automatically rendered on the receiving surface. This allows you to get to the end product faster and automatically eliminate all floating decals.

Mesh Paint: Simple placement of meshes

The improved Mesh Paint feature in Modo 16.1 allows users to place meshes on another mesh surface. The new Edit Mode feature in Mesh Paint Replica makes placing and aligning objects on existing meshes a breeze.

Triplanar Projection: Add materials without UVs

The Triplanar texturing feature in Modo 16.1 allows users to add materials to a surface without UVs. Textures are projected onto the surface from different angles and overlap, with the triplanar texturing feature creating a uniform texture map.

Background Constraint: Effective retopologising

With the new background constraint feature in Modo 16.1, users can now add a target item to effectively utilise the background constraints. This allows artists to retopologise only a small part of the scene and work better in context.

Improved real-time visualisation in the Advanced Viewport

The quality of the Advanced Viewport in Modo 16.1 has been significantly improved, especially the transparency quality. With the higher performance of the Advanced Viewport, users can achieve better real-time visualisation of transparency.
