In nuce: This one-minute clip, which was kindly provided to us exclusively by Paramount Entertainment, shows Brad Boimler and Beckett Mariner arguing during a car journey. What’s special about the clip: The scene was longer during the development process than it was afterwards in the series.

What is Star Trek: Lower Decks? The animated series was created by Mike McMahan, who has long been known to series fans as co-author and executive producer of Rick and Morty. With Lower Decks, McMahan takes us where no Star Trek series has gone before – to the lower decks! We join rule-breaker Beckett Mariner, up-and-coming Captain Brad Boimler, rookie D’Vana Tendi and part-cyborg Sam Rutherford as they attempt to explore the most mysterious corners of our universe with very little experience – and even less authority.
