In nuce: Between 17th and 27th March, the biggest VFX event Western Canada has to offer will take place. The event is called Spark FX and is organised by the Spark Computer Graphics Society and Vancouver ACM Siggraph. The event will take place online this year.
An overview of Spark FX: The core topics of the conference are artistic and technological advances in the visual effects industry. It will take a closer look at developments in the field of artificial intelligence, scrutinise economic trends and introduce people, creators and artists in the industry.
What programme items can you expect? This year’s Spark FX will feature seven tracks that will shed light on different areas of the visual effects industry.
- Artificial intelligence in VFX: Application and benefits of AI in VFXs
- Business & People: Takes a look at the people behind visual effects, and what form this industry will continue to take
- Concept Art: Workshop reports from concept designers and production designers
- Legends & Landmarks: Looks at the most legendary and revolutionary VFX to date
- Non-VFX for VFX: Conversations with people who don’t work in VFX departments but have to deal with VFXers on a daily basis for work reasons
- Production Session: Dedicated to some of the most exciting films and TV series currently available and how they were created
- Real-time summit: Realising motion capture live during the film shoot? This track addresses these and other challenges of real-time production
