RealityScan 1.5.3 Update Eases 3D Scans with Better Processing for iOS

Epic’s RealityScan update brings flexible processing, smoother workflows, and better support for iPad Pro and image uploads.

RealityScan 1.5.3 just landed for iOS, and it’s making 3D capture that much simpler, especially for anyone whose day isn’t complete without creating a high-quality 3D model out of, well, photos. RealityScan has dropped the mandatory Sketchfab link for bulk processing, making batch scanning as laid-back as possible.

This update tackles bug fixes, polishes up photo uploads (so fewer weird misfires in captures), and makes sure that even HEIC images reliably convert to JPEG. On the scan side, RealityScan keeps all the techy goodness that matters most to artists—think sharp, detailed model captures and an app that can handle workflows where precision matters. The improved guidance system and feedback prompts help fill any image gaps, ensuring the final scan comes out looking crisp.

RealityScan is available for iPhones and iPads with iOS 16 or newer and Android devices with ARCore support running Android 7 or higher. It’s free to download, and exports are also completely free. When you upload a model to Sketchfab for the first time, you’ll get a free year of Sketchfab Pro, which increases monthly upload limits. Models export directly to Sketchfab from the app and can be downloaded in FBX, USDZ, and GLB/glTF formats. Currently, Sketchfab is the only export option from RealityScan.

To really dial in the quality, RealityScan’s UI guides users to capture every angle, with alerts where needed, ensuring a smoother scan that’s ready for your next project. And hey, whether you’re an iPad Pro fanatic or an iPhone loyalist, the app’s tuned to avoid crashing mid-scan—always a plus.

Grab RealityScan 1.5.3 on the App Store and check the update notes here. But remember, test it out before throwing it into production—let’s not repeat any last-minute surprises. While promising, each new feature should be tested in production environments to ensure compatibility with existing workflows.
