WAM!NET, Inc., an IT service provider, and Telestream, a provider of video encoding products, announced an OEM agreement. WAM!NET will distribute Telestream’s devices and MPEG products as part of its video services. Telestream’s ClipMail Pro and ClipExpress products will be integrated into WAM!NET’s Compressed Video Delivery Service.
The MPEG devices ClipMail Pro and ClipExpress from Telestream are optimised for encoding, decoding, sending and viewing compressed videos. As end devices, they are an important component of the Compressed Video Delivery Service, which is operated via WAM!NET’s own network. This service enables post-production, studio, broadcaster and advertising agency customers to speed up the process of viewing, editing and sharing video material.
Since the launch of Telestream two years ago, the ClipMail Pro and ClipExpress products have been widely used in the graphics industry worldwide.
“We chose Telestream’s ClipMail Pro and ClipExpress because they are easy to use and integrate easily into existing video environments,” said Jim Miller, product manager for WAM!NET Video Services. “They combine the full range of features required by professional users, such as MPEG encoding/decoding and sifting, as well as format conversion from NTSC to PAL and back.”
Among the WAM!NET customers already using Telestream products is the Library Sales Division of BBC Wordwide Americas (BBCWA). This supplies the North American branches in New York City, Toronto and Los Angeles with film material from the archive at the headquarters in London. By using the WAM!NET network, BBCWA can deliver the film material within twelve hours and save a good five days compared to traditional shipping methods.
“We are delighted to be working with WAM!NET, an established network provider of data storage and retrieval services
-management in the entertainment sector,” comments Marc Wronski, Sales Director at Telestream. “WAM!NET provides users around the world with the fast, secure and reliable network service they need to exchange high-quality media files.”
It has been agreed that WAM!NET will provide customer support for Telestream products as part of its service offering. In addition, the companies are planning further joint projects.
