In nuce: Crytek releases version 5.7 of its CryEngine.
Core features of CryEngine 5.7: Here are some of the most exciting new functions in fast-forward:
- Scaleform 4 – the latest middleware for game development: includes customisable, high-performance rendering. In addition, ActionScript 3.0 is now also supported – so Adobe Animate can now be used
- Scaleform Schematyc: A plug-in that emulates functions provided by the Flow Graph. Scaleform Schematyc supports both Scaleform 3 and Scaleform 4
- GamePlatform: A plug-in that handles communication between the engine and platform services. These platform services include Steam, PlayStation and Xbox. Also included: an additional plug-in that provides Visual Scripting Nodes for Flow Graph and Schematyc
- Support for Visual Studio 2022: Also includes support for Visual Studio 2017 and 2019
- Other features: Beyond that, you can expect various bug fixes
