KeenTools version 2022.0 released!

Create even more lifelike 3D models with FaceBuilder – because: Integration with MetaHuman from Epic Games makes it possible!

In nuce: You want to pull the 3D model of a human being out of the pipeline that doesn’t look like a failed Doctor Frankenstein experiment from the retort – but like a real boy (like Pinocchio always wanted to be)? Then put the slicer aside, because: The developers at KeenTools have released KeenTools 2022.2.0 – an update for the plugin collection for Blender and Nuke. Digital Production last reported on KeenTools almost a year ago, on 26 August 2021. Version 2021.3 was released at that time.

New functions: Grosso modo, the new features mainly concern the Blender add-on FaceBuilder – along with a few others.

  • Improvements for FaceBuilder: FaceBuilder is an add-on that helps users create 3D heads based on photos. Thanks to the improvement, the 3D heads created should now be much closer to their real-world counterparts. This should make FaceBuilder more widely applicable. The MH Texture Map has also been added to FaceBuilder. The abbreviation MH stands for MetaHuman (Creator), the cloud-based application from Epic Games that artists use to create lifelike digital humans. MH Texture Map should be compatible with the texture layout from MetaHuman. Thanks to this compatibility, it should now be easier to add skin blemishes, moles, scars, etc. to textures.
  • Addition of MetaHuman-compatible UV layout
  • Support for Nuke 11 has been removed
  • Minor improvements: for example regarding the user interface
