Autodesk releases Maya Bonus Tools

“Hooray!”, shout Maya users – because the new bonus tools for the popular DCC tool have been released. The free script & plugin collection includes tools for modelling, UV editing, character rigging and more.

In nuce: Autodesk updated its Maya Bonus Tools back in June. The Maya Bonus Tools are a free collection of scripts and plugins for Autodesk Maya (2023). The update mainly includes new functions in terms of modelling, UV editing and character rigging. We would like to thank our colleagues at CGChannel who first reported on the new Maya Bonus Tools.

  • ProSets: A procedural modelling tool from Mainframe North (previously only available as a paid add-on) that works in conjunction with Maya’s own modelling tools
  • User interface-based app: A tool with which users can create interactive tutorials. The app was introduced with Maya 2022.1, but is now more intuitive to control. Instead of plugging together nodes in the editor, users create their tutorials via a standard user interface – while the required nodes are automatically generated in the background
  • Updates for existing tools: including for SpeedCut (Boolean real-time modelling) or Weight Editor (character rigging)
