In nuce: Autodesk recently released version 2023.2 of Maya – the popular software for 3D modelling, animation and rendering. According to Autodesk, the focus of the new version was on making animation and rigging more performant. It was also important to simplify workflows, improve the user experience and enable users to work more efficiently.

  • Higher-performance animation & rigging workflows: improved Evaluation Manager (including new functions such as GPU readback – which makes it possible to minimise the rebuilding of graphs. This should noticeably reduce delay times)
  • Enhanced evaluation toolkit: this includes the ability to perform deformer evaluations for complex graphs more easily.
  • Improved blue pencil tool: this includes the new falloff ramps for opacity, size and hardness; or new brush ramp templates
