Nuke 13.1 | Release

Nuclear, Nuclear – Nuke? That’s for sure! 3D manipulators, 3D hotkeys and other hot feature delights!

In nuce: Foundry releases version 13.1 of Nuke. The latest release should bring improvements in terms of workflow, productivity and user-friendliness. We already reported on the beta of Nuke 13.1 on 15 October.

Squeaky clean features: The new version introduces new 3D manipulators, new 3D hotkeys and other minor improvements that should make working in Nuke easier. The Node Graph is now better linked to Cryptomatte, but Nuke Studio and Hiero Timeline have also been polished up. These include the ability to copy soft effects from the timeline and then copy them into Nuke scripts. Nuke has also been expanded to include functions that are particularly relevant for streaming artists. As we already reported on the Nuke 13.1 beta, the Unreal Reader is a new NukeX node that connects Nuke with the Unreal Editor. This should make it easier for the compositors among you to create live renderings for the time being. This is because live renderings created in the Unreal Engine can be further processed in Nuke using the NukeX node. This should significantly improve the workflow of real-time projects.

The toolset for machine learning has also been updated, as PyTorch models are now also supported. According to the developers, artists now use a wide range of PyTorch networks (image-to-image), package them in tools and then share them with their team. But that’s not all: Nuke 13.1 now also supports OCIOv2, BlackmagicRaw and the Nuke-Katana compatibility in Katana 5.0, which is in the starting blocks.
