Maxon releases the “Surprise June Updates”!

A flood of features for users of Cinema 4D, Redshift and Red Giant. Which functions pass the practical test – and which ones turn out to be a pipeline killer?

In nuce: As part of its “Surprise June Update”, has put together an extensive update package for users of Maxon One – but also for users of the individual software offerings included in Maxon One. So you can expect new features for the popular DCC tools Cinema 4D, Redshift and . We have summarised the most relevant new functions below.

Cinema 4D 26.1: Can these six flagship functions convince you?

  • Curvature option: For fields and smooth slopes in volume modelling
  • Node user interface: Revised interface and interaction options. In particular, the handling of Redshift materials and node capsules should be much easier.
  • New “Edit asset as group” command: Explore and edit existing Capsules directly in the Object Manager. In addition, assets relevant to users have been added to the Capsules library – including Surface imperfections, HDRIs and redshift materials.
  • Fabric and rope simulation: With the help of C4D’s own field forces, users can now move fabrics beyond the laws of physics.
  • Volume Builder: Is now more performant, thanks in part to 9.
  • Improved stability

Redshift: We find three newly added functions worth mentioning.

  • Bokeh depth of field: within Redshift RT
  • Controlling the blackbody temperature: for volume shading
  • Rendering with CPU: now more performant

Red Giant: The innovations to be found here, mainly affecting Trapcode Suite 18.1, are the following points.

  • Grow Bounds: Now works natively with M1 processors.
  • Various bug fixes for Particular, Form and 3D Stroke.
  • Magic Bullet 16.1: Users can now also use the Halation and Diffusion effects in Cinema 4D.
  • PluralEyes 4.1.12: The developers ensure compatibility with Vegas Pro 18, 19 and RED Komodo, as well as FCPX.
  • Universe 6.1: Offers more support for AMD graphics cards.
  • VFX Suite 3.1: Better performing real lean flares and a wider selection of colour corrections.
