Red Giant

Red Giant, the fifth: Our first and only subscription model for plug-ins is called Universe and comes, surprisingly enough, from Red Giant. For 100 US dollars a year (or alternatively 20 US dollars a month), users receive around 60 more or less useful effects, some as light versions of more expensive plug-ins.

Red Giant, the fourth: The smallest and most inconspicuous collection in our overview is the Shooter Suite, which consists of two programs and two plug-ins. In short, the package contains tools for ingesting material, preparing it for editing and making simple corrections.

Red Giant, the third: One of the most sensible purchases for postproduction is good color-correction tools, whether a standalone program such as Resolve or a handful of plug-ins for After Effects or other hosts, because hardly any editing software does everything needed for professional grading. One of the most useful collections in this context is Red Giant's Magic Bullet Suite, because alongside very efficient color correction it also contains grading tools and simple correction filters.

Red Giant, the first: Why is Red Giant called Red Giant? Probably because through in-house developments and acquisitions, the manufacturer has grown into a true giant in tools and plug-ins over recent years. An extra part of our overview therefore also covers products from this one manufacturer. The first collection we examine here is called Effects Suite and provides nine effect packages with one or more individual filters.
