In nuce: As part of our weekly recurring series “Animago Afternoon”, we present pearls, gems and other splendours from last year’s Animago film festivals at the best time of the afternoon. This time we’re showing you the award-winning animated short comedy “Escargore” by filmmakers from the Media Design School in New Zealand, salvaged from the Animago archives in 2015.
What is Escargore? Oh mon Dieu! You just want to go out for a nice bite to eat with your friends, unfortunately choose the wrong restaurant and then rush about your life in a completely inelegant manner! That’s what happens to snail friends Claude, Shelly, Corky, Sheldon and Bruno in the animated short film “Escargore”.
Animago 2015: These slimy CG companions in the rarely chosen genre “Snail Horror Comedy” made the animago jury laugh a lot in 2015 and impressed with their first-class CG character design. The film was created as a bachelor’s degree project at the Media Design School in around four months with 22 artists; the team used Maya, Houdini, Mari, Nuke, Premiere, After Effects and V-Ray as tools.
