Autodesk | Triple innovation

For Flame, Flare and Flame Assist: Support for 4K, UltraHD and HDR image material!

In nuce: Autodesk is renewing three of its software offerings (Flame, Flare and Flame Assist). The innovations mainly concern high-resolution 4K, Ultra HD and HDR content.

Feature delights in detail: A renewed video preview of 4K/UltraHD content including cable-based 12G-SDI connection for video I/O cards from Blackmagic Design and Aja Videos Systems (Ultra Studio and Deck Line from Blackmagic are listed as compatible video cards, as well as T-TAP Pro for Thunderbolt 3-capable 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 monitoring).

But let’s take a look at the HDR Advanced Curves: these allow you to quickly adjust colours to your liking – without any keying. And also: Flame’s MasterGrade tools now boast a selection of eight colour modifiers and eight additional curve manipulation tools. This should enable smoother transitions – even in areas with compressed colour tones.

Autodesk is also advertising faster conforms: the new Auto Link Matches function is designed to save time – especially when it comes to adjusting edits. Not to be underestimated: The fact that media is now scanned faster should save you additional time (especially with MXF files).
