ACHT Frankfurt has upgraded its Quantel eQ with an HD-RGB option and additional HD storage. The system now provides 200 minutes of HD storage or 125 minutes in RGB, alongside a Sony HDCAM SRW-5000 and a new HD monitor.
The post-production company primarily uses the eQ to produce commercials for large-screen presentation. Working in RGB retains the full colour information throughout the process rather than converting it to YUV. The upgrade also increases processing speed.
ACHT sees a growing convergence between colour grading and compositing. The company plans to expand its digital colour-grading capabilities in summer 2005.
