Uni-Module is Echolab’s latest development for its Optima 2000 and Optima 5000 modular digital video switchers. The single-channel input module accepts analogue composite, analogue component YUV, analogue Y/C and serial digital component SDI/D1 signals. Its 10-bit processing is compatible with the Optima 2000 and 5000 series, which process SD video internally using ITU-R BT.601.
The module’s central feature is its handling of problems caused by mixed video sources, allowing synchronous and asynchronous signals to be used simultaneously. Self-aligning inputs provide 18 microseconds of timing adjustment.
Configuration is limited to moving jumpers on the labelled circuit board. The video switcher automatically recognises the status of installed Uni-Modules, and users can reconfigure each module quickly when required.
The module was developed specifically for the Echolab Optima 2000 and 5000 switcher ranges and is intended to provide existing and new users with a long-term upgrade path.
