The production of animated films in a classic two-dimensional look on the computer is the task of Toon Boom Studio from the Canadian manufacturer Toon Boom Animation.
On the occasion of the Flashforward conference, a specialist event for Flash designers and developers in New York, the final version of Toon Boom Studio 3 is now coming onto the market.
A free-transform tool is new, allowing an object to be freely scaled, rotated and twisted. With the new text tool, the user can insert text at any location.
There are significant advances in lip synchronisation; an automated tool, among other things, now helps with the work. Improved sound scrubbing then enables fine-tuning of lip synchronisation.
Toon Boom has also made keyframe animation easier in version 3. A library simplifies recourse to assets from previous productions.
Toon Boom Studio is available for Mac and PC either through the online shop or through the retailer JourneyEd.com. The price of the full version at JourneyED.com, including German value-added tax, is 359.59 euros plus shipping. Various updates as well as licences for research and teaching are also available.
