With the release of Toast 7 with Blu-ray Disc support, Sonic subsidiary Roxio says it is bringing the first software to the Mac market that supports the Blu-ray Disc format (BD). With its help, up to 50 gigabytes of data are supposed to be storable on BD-R and BD-RE discs, respectively.

Roxio is initially making the expanded Toast 7 version available exclusively to OEMs, which are expected to bundle the software with next-generation external BD drives. Roxio promises the first bundles during this quarter – that is, by the end of September.

Toast 7 is a Universal application that runs natively on both Intel- and PowerPC-based systems.
