ProSiebenSat.1 Mobile, the first full mobile TV programme in Germany designed and broadcast specifically for reception on mobile phones via DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting), is now bringing clips from the MyVideo.de video community to mobile television. Five new videos are broadcast up to 40 times daily in rotation between the programme blocks. Viewers are to see a selection of the best and most-viewed videos posted on MyVideo.de (which also belongs to ProSiebenSat.1). In addition, among other things, the weekly “MyVideo Show” from Sat.1 is broadcast on Mondays and Thursdays at around 3 p.m.
“By broadcasting clips from the MyVideo.de video community, ProSiebenSat.1 Mobile is opening up real mobile television distribution for User Generated Content for the first time in Germany. With their duration of around three minutes, the clips fit mobile usage behaviour excellently”, explains Manfred Neumann, Head of Mobile TV at SevenSenses, the ProSiebenSat.1 Group’s company for digital television.
ProSiebenSat.1 Mobile is a channel for mobile television whose different daily, 24-hour programming is tailored around the clock specifically to the viewing habits of mobile television viewers. The timing of the programming schedule thus for the first time does justice to the specific pattern of use in mobile TV, the channel concludes.
ProSiebenSat.1 Mobile is intended to be clearly recognisable to viewers as an independent mobile channel through specially branded programme separators and station IDs. The programme can be received via the DMB TV service “watcha” produced by MFD Mobiles Fernsehen Deutschland. SevenSenses GmbH, the ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG subsidiary for digital television, and MFD jointly developed ProSiebenSat.1 Mobile. Alongside the mobile TV channel, the N24 news channel can also be received on mobile devices. The other channels in the offering, which comprises four TV programmes in total, are ZDF and MTV. In addition, bigFM2see, Europe’s first “Visual Radio” channel, is fed in. MFD sales partners Debitel and Mobilcom sell the “Watcha” package to end customers.
