animago AWARD 2007: Registration Started

New Category System, New Event in Karlsruhe / Judging Areas Film, Still and Animation

In 2007, DIGITAL PRODUCTION is holding the 11th animago AWARD – and is realigning the competition to take account of the technical advancement of the DCC industries and the growing international participation. Greater transparency in the categories and greater prominence for the winners are the goal. Selected by an expert jury, works from the judging areas Film, Still and Interactive will be honoured this year. The competition is divided into a total of ten categories:

  • Best Production (Grand Prize)

    The overall best production of the competition year, taking into account the use of DCC techniques

  • Best International Cinema Production

    The best feature film produced substantially with the aid of digital technology

  • Best University Production (Advancement Award)

    The best completed DCC project from a public or private university

  • Best Young Talent Production

    The best non-commercial production created exclusively privately and with DCC resources

  • Best Technical Realisation

    The best use of existing DCC tools and/or the development of new technology to achieve advances in realism, aesthetics or creative possibilities

  • Best Idea

    The best idea underlying a DCC production

  • Best Character

    The CG character most convincing with regard to movement, facial animation, texturing and credibility

  • Best Visualisation

    The most successful illustration of a topic, product or process with DCC resources

  • Best Still

    The still most convincing in design, aesthetics and effective use of DCC

  • Best Interactive Production

    The production for interaction with the user that is most convincing in design

The submission deadline for all entries is June 30, 2007. The producers of the respective best work in each category will be honoured with the animago trophy. The ceremonial award presentation will take place on November 8, 2007, at the DC Days in Karlsruhe as part of a large evening event.
