CUNIMA MCU[1] Delivers HD at 182 Grams

The 182 g CUNIMA MCU[1] miniature camera outputs native HD and SD from a 2/3-inch CMOS sensor while drawing no more than 3 W.

WIGE Media and Fraunhofer IIS developed the CUNIMA MCU[1], a 182 g miniature camera for native HD and SD acquisition.

A 2/3-inch CMOS sensor produced progressive 1920 × 1080 images. Supported formats included 1080p at 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97 and 30 fps; 1080i at 50, 59.94 and 60; and 720p at frame rates from 23.98 to 60.

The camera also generated native 525i/59.94 and 625i/50 signals in switchable 4:3 or 16:9, rather than converting the HD output.

Automatic gain control, an electronic shutter, replaceable glass filters at the C-mount and programmable RS-422 remote control were included.

The standalone body measured 33.5 × 38 × 111.5 mm, required no separate camera-control unit and accepted 9 to 32 V DC while drawing 3 W.

Wellen+Nöthen handled distribution in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
