Hamburg-based Bigpoint GmbH, a leading provider of browser-based online games (browser games), took second place at the “Deloitte Technology Fast 50” awards ceremony. With the “Deloitte Technology Fast 50”, auditing and consulting company Deloitte honors German companies that have demonstrated special entrepreneurship and innovative strength at a rapid pace. The evaluation criterion for the nomination is the average percentage revenue growth over the last five fiscal years. To qualify, a significant proportion of sales revenues must be generated from technology developed in-house. Bigpoint impressed, among other things, with its revenue growth of 4589.01 percent over the last four years. The awards ceremony took place on October 10 at the Palais im Zoo in Frankfurt.
As a technology leader in the browser-games sector, Bigpoint GmbH has set new quality standards in the display possibilities of browser games. Browser games are long-term multiplayer games that can be played online in the browser without downloading or installing additional software. Thanks to Bigpoint technology, the browser games no longer reveal any difference from PC and console games, but in comparison offer the advantage that they can be played purely online. The player logs on to the game portal at http://www.bigpoint.de and is immediately in the game action together with other players.
“We feel very honored by this award. It shows us that we are on the right path with our company concept,” says Heiko Hubertz, founder and managing director of Bigpoint GmbH. “We develop browser-based online games of an outstanding quality that previously only CDs and consoles offered. Everyone should be able to play anywhere and at any time – without having to buy and install software.”
The browser-games market is booming. Interest in games that can be played on the Internet independently of place and time is growing exponential. Four years after its founding, Bigpoint already employs 110 people, and 20 more are to reinforce the teams in Hamburg, Berlin and New York this year.
