The subsidiary of Swiss company LMP AG, which has focused on Apple accessories since it was founded, offers its LMP Battery Pro products as an alternative to the Mac manufacturer’s original batteries. The company promises comparable quality and higher battery capacity than the original accessories through the use of branded cells manufactured in Japan and Korea.
Replacement batteries are a sensitive issue for both specialist dealers and end customers: high product quality is the decisive purchasing criterion, and third-party products tend to be viewed with skepticism. At the same time, the replacement-battery market is booming, particularly for Apple notebooks. The Mac manufacturer has long sold more portable computers than desktop machines, and the battery is usually the first component that needs replacing.
“High product availability and a complete range are crucial for specialist retailers in the growing replacement-battery market,” explains LMP managing director Urs Künzler. “With our LMP Battery Pro products, we can meet these requirements. Four years of experience in this product segment, original-equipment quality, and competitive pricing give LMP important selling points that also appeal to end customers.”
The manufacturer uses cells from Panasonic and Samsung. The batteries’ outer surfaces match the case material of the corresponding laptop model. Depending on the laptop version, the familiar Apple-style LED indicator is also included.
Another claimed strength of the LMP range is its large number of different models. The manufacturer also supplies replacement batteries for older Apple notebooks for which original spare parts are no longer available. LMP additionally promises high product availability.
