The “Certificate of Typographic Excellence”, awarded annually by the Type Directors Club New York, is regarded as one of the most internationally prestigious awards for typography. From 2,100 submissions from 33 countries, the world’s best 225 typographic designs of 2007 have now been awarded the “Certificate of Typographic Excellence”. VIER, the magazine of the University of the Arts Bremen, is among them.
The award went to the fourth issue of VIER, with its focus on “worldwide”. A student team at the HfK (Saskia Burghardt, Stefan Katz, Christina Loock, Steffen Vogt) developed the award-winning design concept under the direction of Andrea Rauschenbusch, Professor of Corporate Design at HfK Bremen.

Following two honours in the BCP Award, the “Certificate of Typographic Excellence” is already the third high-calibre recognition that the magazine of the University of the Arts Bremen has received in its two years of existence.
The 225 award-winning works will be presented to the public in summer 2008 at the 54th Award Exhibition in New York. “typography 29”, the Type Directors Club yearbook featuring all the winning works, will be published to coincide with the exhibition.
In the following months, a wider audience will then have the opportunity to familiarise itself with the latest outstanding achievements in international typography. In the course of 2008, the 54th Award Exhibition will also be shown as a travelling exhibition in other cities in the USA, Canada, England, France, Germany, Japan, Russia and Spain.
