“Desperate Housewives” Ends with a Season Record

ProSieben’s scheduling of the “Desperate Housewives” season finale paid off. On Wednesday evening, 2.43 million viewers aged 14 to 49 watched the final episode for the time being, “Tornado.”

The audience share was an excellent 19.1 percent in the target group. Wisteria Lane headed into its summer break with a season record. Ratings were last at this level during the first season in 2005.

A total of 2.9 million viewers aged three and over tuned in. The share of the total audience was a respectable 9.3 percent.

Susan, Lynette, Bree and Gabrielle clearly overshadowed the Munich broadcaster’s other programs. The 15.5 percent target-group share for the hospital series “Grey’s Anatomy,” representing 2.07 million viewers, received somewhat less attention. The spin-off “Private Practice” also performed well, with 1.32 million viewers in the advertising-relevant group and a 13.5 percent share.
