Both the standard SCC and the RAID SCC now use version 6.5 of Kerio MailServer as their groupware. This significantly optimises offline use of the SCC: the new Offline Outlook Connector synchronises all groupware data with Outlook on the user’s computer. Users can therefore work with the data while away from the network or internet. At the next network connection, changes are transferred back to the central groupware server simply and automatically.
Via the internet, users can now conveniently access not only email, appointments and contacts, but also their other files, using any web browser. “This makes cross-site cooperation in companies much easier. Files can now really be maintained centrally by the team,” explains Martin Geilhofer, Product Manager at Quintec.
Greater data security in the event of hard-drive failure and power outages: to protect company data even better, the new alternative edition of SmartCom Center is equipped with RAID. All new data is stored in real time on two hard drives in parallel. If one drive fails between backups, the data remains safely protected on the second drive. The new SmartCom Center also supports a large number of UPS devices (uninterruptible power supplies).
Optimised Mac integration and administration interface: Mac users managing appointments with iCal can now work seamlessly with their Windows-using colleagues on the SmartCom Center. Kerio MailServer acts, as it were, as a translator between operating systems. The administration interface has also become clearer: all selection lists are roomier, and windows for backups and mail settings are wider.
