The nature documentary by Alastair Fothergill and Mark Linfield was the most elaborate and expensive nature documentary ever made at the time. The film took five

years to produce. More than 40 camera crews shot 1,000 hours of footage in 26 countries at over 200 locations, some of which had never previously been visited, for a production of superlatives.

The result, the theatrical film EARTH, delighted critics and audiences alike. UNIVERSUM FILM recorded a tremendous theatrical launch and 3.5 million admissions by that point. For the first time, a nature documentary received the Golden Screen award. The German-British production by Greenlight Media AG and BBC Worldwide was considered Europe’s most successful nature documentary of the preceding ten years.

EARTH is a film about the beauty, magic, and fascination of our planet. It takes viewers on an unforgettable and moving journey around the globe. Thanks to cutting-edge technology, some of it specially developed, landscapes and animals in the wild can be observed in spectacular quality and from perspectives

that people would largely be unable to see with their own eyes.
