Following the opening of branches in Paris and London, Munich-based Framepool is now also present in New York and Chicago, in addition to its existing representatives in Miami and Los Angeles. “The enormous demand makes it absolutely essential for us to have additional offices in the United States,” explained CEO Stephan Bleek. “Framepool is one of the largest online providers of premium content. We offer an extensive collection of more than 400,000 film clips, most of them in 35mm, HD and 16mm.”
The collection includes work by more than 500 renowned directors and cinematographers. Framepool offers footage from AP Archive, the National Film Board of Canada and the Nuit de la Glisse extreme-sports collection, among others, with the latter available worldwide exclusively.
When staffing its New York office, Framepool followed its corporate motto, “Run By Filmmakers”: multi-award-winning documentary filmmaker Mona Kanin is taking charge of sales. Framepool is also strengthening its US presence with another new appointment: experienced footage specialist Krista Kilgore will lead the Chicago office.
Peter Carstens, who has represented Framepool in Miami for years, has been appointed Managing Director. “The advertising world in particular is moving ever faster, and producers depend on reliable and competent partners. We work every day to keep our internet platform at the cutting edge of technology and hope that this made-in-Germany quality will continue to score highly in the United States,” Carstens said.
“Framepool was founded by filmmakers and is run by filmmakers. We see ourselves as a partner to the film and entertainment industry. We know the filmmaking process inside out, including every concern in front of and behind the camera,” Kanin commented. “Framepool is an incredibly dynamic company. I am delighted to be part of this team, where direct contact with the CEO accelerates creative processes and allows us to respond immediately to market needs. Film production can be extremely demanding, so a flexible and reliable partner is essential,” Kilgore added.
Sales Manager Anna Toemp, previously with Corbis New York and Framepool in Munich, added: “We are very excited to see how New York’s creative community responds to our colourful and sometimes unconventional offering. In New York in particular, our European-influenced content will appeal to many advertising agencies and film productions.”
Toemp, Kilgore, Kanin and Carstens make up the US team together with Hollywood-based colleague Alexander von Roon. Von Roon has already successfully placed footage in box-office hits including Spielberg’s “Indiana Jones 4,” “Pink Panther 2,” “Sicko” and “Speed Racer.” The Los Angeles office also coordinated a second-unit shoot in Paris for the series NCIS. “Our worldwide network gives us excellent contacts, and as everyone knows, those are indispensable in the film world,” Alexander von Roon emphasized.
