Have you heard of a “carrot mishap”? No? It is a simple dish of boiled and mashed potatoes and carrots—with half a litre of gravy poured over it, a favourite meal of young children.

Presto, a cunning magician with a certain tendency to overestimate himself, experiences a very different kind of carrot mishap. Thanks to his two magic hats and a rabbit named Alec, he has achieved great fame and an even greater ego. So he ignores his cuddly rabbit’s growling stomach and, shortly before their big performance, refuses to give him his beloved carrot. Not very clever. What the offended, revenge-minded Alec then cleverly pulls out of the hat eclipses everything the world of magical show business has offered up to that point.

PRESTO is the new short accompanying Disney/Pixar’s animated comedy WALL-E, in which, from September 25, 2008, a lovestruck robot searching for the lady of his heart, EVE, turns the universe upside down. WALL-E has already won the hearts of cinema audiences in the US as well, earning more than $160 million since its June 27 release.
