Hands on HD 2008

Sony presents itself as a leading HD provider at the industry meeting in Hanover.

For the sixth time, the Hands on HD training event organized by Band Pro Munich GmbH and nordmedia – The Media Company of Lower Saxony and Bremen will take place from 21 to 27 July 2008. At the Hanover Expo grounds, everything will revolve around the various aspects of HD production, whether broadcast, advertising, cinema or workflow. Alongside theory, the main emphasis is on practice: internationally recognized experts will hold seminars on the most important camera systems available on the market in equipment-specific classes, with additional workshops in postproduction and audio.

As one of the pioneers and most comprehensive providers in HD, main sponsor Sony is participating in the program with numerous product highlights and by helping to shape the seminars. Sebastian Leske, Product Manager at Sony, will provide information in various classes about new developments and technical expertise in monitors.

Further camera classes will offer workshops on Sony’s F23/F35, HDCAM and XDCAM HD 422 systems. Sony products used in these and other workshops include the CineAlta flagship F35, the XDCAM HD 422 PDW-700 camera, the new class-one BVM-L230 monitor and the compact PMW-EX1 SxS ExpressCard camcorder.

In the individual groups, fundamental topics such as menu structure, color correction and contrast behavior, together with knowledge of compression methods, color matrices and high- and low-key optimization, will be covered in detail in theory and practice. In the postproduction classes, small groups will receive training on the various processing devices and apply their functions in practice using material shot by the camera classes.

The highlight of the training is a demonstration of camera work in Europe’s only HD studio helicopter. Sony experts will be on site throughout the conference to provide professional information about every system on display.
